These guidelines are to insure acceptable and safe activities at Saint John Retreat Center-Rickert Lodge; and to protect the property of Saint John and all who participate in
The use of the building and property of Saint John Lutheran Church by
non-profit, religious, educational, social and other character-building
functions may be permitted providing the applicant meets the terms stated in
our procedures and guidelines.
Request for the use of Saint John Retreat Center-Rickert Lodge
by members or other groups, as specified above, will be considered on
an individual basis and will be acted upon by the Office Administrator in
conjunction with a member(s) of the Executive Committee.
Activities of Saint John have first
priority for any open date. Requests will be considered on a first come basis.
All applicants must complete the "Building & Property Use Application" and
submit it with the Use Fee ($100.00/day for member or other churches; $125.00/day for other groups) to the Office Administrator at
Saint John Lutheran Church, Bellevue, Iowa. [A day is 8:00 a.m. to 10:00
p.m. unless other arrangements are approved.]
The submitting of the application will hold the date and time until action is
taken. The applicant will receive a "Notification of the Approval" within
two weeks of the date the application was received.
The required "Deposit for Damages" ($125.00 refundable) will be submitted by
the applicant at least two weeks prior to the approved event. The check
will by held and returned to the applicant within one week of close of the event
if there are no damage/excessive clean up charges against it.
NO SMOKING is allowed within the structures at Saint John Retreat Center, and is
discouraged on the property. Receptacles will be made available and their
use for ashes and butts is strongly encouraged.
NO ALCOHOL, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES, OR GAMBLING is allowed within the structures
or on the property. (The use of wine is permitted when authorized by the pastor
of Saint John for use only in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.)
All participants are to act in a manner that respects and glorifies God.
Inappropriate conduct and language will not be tolerated.
||Directions to Saint John Retreat Center
And Rickert Lodge:
1. Turn right on the road to Springbrook (County Highway Z15)
2. Look for the blue sign "Saint John Retreat Center" and turn left on 407th Ave (first gravel road on the left after Hwy 52 turn off).
3. Proceed to the top of the hill (1 mile). The entrance is on the left - look for our sign "Saint John Retreat Center".
